hey!

My name is Mackenzie gilman (formerly known as mackenzie bremges).

I am a photographer based out of the smallest state in the U.s. - Rhode Island! so naturally, I itch to travel any chance i get and explore wherever love takes me.

First off, I want to thank you so much for your interest in me and my work. My work is my life’s calling and it means the world to me that you’re taking the time to get to know me and what my business is all about!

Hiking, camping, swimming in the ocean or rivers, dogs, campfires, quality family / friend time, DIY projects, flea markets, beekeeping - honestly, anything that has to do with adventure, love, creativity, and the outdoors - count me in

my passion.

I’ve been in the business of photographing love and laughs since 2014, and not one day has gone by where I haven’t felt that this is my life’s purpose. You should know from the get-go that I become completely invested in my couples. I smile when you smile, I laugh when you laugh, I cry when you cry. I am full of emotion, and I love, love. Call it cheesy, whatever, but I'm going to be completely real with you. I care deeply for my couples, they are my friends and our relationship is more than just a business transaction to me.

We create magic together, and building connection and trust is so important to me and our journey.

I value the friendships that I gain through my work, and gaining your trust and friendship is a big part of the way I do things. I don’t even enjoy calling my couples “clients” because they’re my friends. I get texts from my past couples telling me they’re pregnant, and we happy cry together. Capturing the start of your forever journey and following you until you have your 3rd (or 10th) kid absolutely lights me up and gives me life. I can’t even find words to express the purpose it has brought to my life.

Although I love my job more than a lot of things, my family means everything to me. My husband, Ryan, and our Goldendoodle pup, Willow,

My little family keeps me going, brings light to my life and is truly the most important thing to me. I come from a big and loving family - I have the most loving parents in the entire world, who have made me who I am today. I have 2 brothers and 1 sister, 2 nieces and 2 nephews. You can find us all running around like little kids, blasting music and swimming in the lake that my parents live on.

If you see me and my little family at our home, you’ll find us either beekeeping, working in the vegetable garden, chopping wood, refurnishing cool mid century pieces, rolling on the ground with Willow, or hiding inside cooking and binge watching a TV series with a hard kombucha in hand.

Whenever I’m not photographing love or putting love into our home, we make my way up to the mountains of New England - it’s where we get to step away from the madness, recharge, and enjoy the simple life either camping in the wilderness or hiking towards an amazing view. And we never leave our house without Willow, she is our daughter and the happiest part of our life lol (yes, we’re those type of dog people).

accomplishments

I graduated URI with a degree in film in 2014. That is when I met my husband and my life changed completely. I fell in love with cameras (and him lol) and never looked back. Since then I have photographed covers for RI Monthly's Engaged and SO Rhode Island Magazines. I have been a Wedding Wire "Couples Choice Award" Winner since 2019. I was a finalist in the Wedding Photography Summit Awards in 2021. And I continue to dream big, every day.

How I like to do things.

Photography isn’t just a job to me, it’s my passion » I have learned to soak it all in and truly make it an experience for all of my couples, little humans and families - and of course, myself.

I don’t just pose, point and shoot

I create more of an “experience” with my people » I make you do silly things, not because it looks great [because it doesn’t], I do them so i capture all of those raw moments and belly giggles in between » We’ll joke around and get to know one another » I become your third wheel » I’ll get you to squeeze each other harder and embrace a little tighter » I’ll have you interact with your newborn and do what you normally would to make your baby laugh while sitting in your own home.

All of these little moments are so important for me to capture, which is why I do things the way that i do. I make my work a fun time to remember, while getting better photos than I ever would if I were to pose you in very specific ways. I capture the true version of you, not a fake one.

I am an emotional and silly human » I get goosebumps when I capture a genuine moment; I smile when you smile; my heart beats faster seeing genuine happiness and love - and it is so friggen cool to me that this is my job.
